One of the common mistakes when launching a VR arena is trying to economize on equipment. At first glance, it may seem that all VR headsets, routers, or tablets work about the same way. But in commercial operation in the arena, the difference becomes noticeable very quickly. Therefore, at WARSTATION, we recommend equipment that has been tested in real conditions and has consistently performed well.
VR-Headset
We currently recommend two options: Pico 4 Ultra and Quest 3. Both models support VR and MR formats, provide good picture quality, work quickly, and are suitable for active commercial use.
For the VR arena, it is important that the headset accurately tracks the player's movements, does not get lost in space, and works normally even under high load. If tracking is weak, the player may encounter delays, a "jumping" picture, or incorrect determination of the position of the arms and body. Then it becomes a problem for the business, because the gaming experience of the guests begins to deteriorate. Quest 3 and Pico 4 Ultra cope well with such loads and provide a better immersion.
Why don't we recommend Quest 3S and older helmets?
Many are looking towards cheaper models in order to reduce their initial investments. But it's important to understand that saving on equipment often leads to additional costs in the future.
More budget-friendly or outdated headsets have worse cameras, poorer image quality, and lower stability in MR modes. In addition, over time, it becomes more difficult to find accessories and accessories for maintenance.
In addition, the development of new WARSTATION games focuses specifically on modern devices. Therefore, new helmets are an investment not only in image quality today, but also in compatibility with future updates and content.
The router
The network device must be powerful. Several headsets are working simultaneously in the VR arena, which constantly exchange data with each other. If the network is weak or unstable, delays, freezes, and out of sync begin.
That is why we recommend the Xiaomi BE7000 or BE10000 router with Wi-Fi 7 support.
For home use, their characteristics may seem redundant. But the VR arena is a completely different level of workload. High data transfer speed, stable signal, and the ability to keep a large number of devices connected at the same time are important here.
An important point: it is forbidden to use mesh systems, repeaters and access points in WARSTATION arenas. They create additional delays and can cause connection instability between devices.
Tablet
The tablet in the VR arena is the instructor's working tool. Games are launched from it, the process of the game session and the state of the equipment are monitored.
We recommend Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro 12/512. It has a powerful processor, a large amount of memory and a fast 144 Hz screen. This is important because the tablet must work stably even under high load.
If the device is weak, arena management becomes less convenient: delays, freezes and problems appear when working with a large company of players.
PC
Instead of a tablet, you can use a PC to control the arena. It performs the same task: helmets are connected through it, games are started and the process is monitored.
But there is still a slight difference: the PC allows you to broadcast the game on TV so that guests or parents can watch what is happening in the arena in real time. In addition, the computer provides a more stable data transfer.
The tablet, in turn, benefits from mobility: the instructor can freely move around the arena, quickly track the players and, if necessary, show the parents what is happening directly from the tablet screen.
For PC, we recommend:
— Windows 10 Pro or Windows 11 Pro — Graphics card GeForce RTX 3050 or better — Intel Core i5-12400 — SSD of at least 512 GB — 16 ГБ RAM — power supply from 550W
To sum up
VR arena equipment is not something worth saving on. It depends on the technique how stable the games will work, how comfortable the guests will feel in the arena and whether they will want to return again.
Therefore, at WARSTATION, we recommend equipment that has already been tested by our partners and can withstand the real pressures of the VR business.
